Serious motorcycle crash at Avondale Heights

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a motorcycle crash which occurred in Avondale Heights early this morning.

    The motorcyclist, a 43-year-old Taylors Hill man, was travelling in westerly direction on Canning Street when he failed to negotiate a bend at the intersection of Military Road at 12.30am.

    The bike left the roadway and struck a concrete bollard on the side of the road.

    The rider and his 18-year-old male pillion passenger, also from Taylors Hill, were thrown from the bike and also struck the bollards.

    The passenger sustained life threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being conveyed to hospital.

    The rider was also conveyed to hospital with serious injuries.

    Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or they can file a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
