Emergency services were called to a Gillespie Avenue home after receiving reports that a man had been injured in a shooting at 2.20am.
A number of shots were fired into the front of the house and a 52-year-old man suffered a graze to his forehead.
There was one other person in the house at the time of the incident but they were not injured.
Investigators believe a grey 2005 BMW wagon registration TOE 769 was involved in the drive-by shooting and had been stolen from a Cranbourne address earlier that day.
The stolen vehicle was later found burnt out at a reserve on Tramway Road in Mount Evelyn on 17 August.
An image and CCTV of the BMW has been released in the hope someone may be able to provide information.
Detectives are keen to speak to the driver or occupants of the BMW and anyone that may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the shooting.
Anyone with information about the shooting incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
