Mayor Cr John Hedditch said the Council was running eight community consultation sessions as well as asking for feedback online to help Council decide its budget and plans for future projects and services.
“We are asking the community, ‘what’s your big idea for Brimbank?’ and in fact we are interested in all ideas – big and small – to help us create a City we can all be proud of.
“As elected representatives we see our role very much as putting the community first in everything we do.  This includes the services we deliver, the infrastructure we build and maintain and how we support our local community.
“We will use this feedback to inform our long term community plan, the next four year Council plan as well as our budget for next year.
“This is about having a real conversation about what our community sees as the priorities for the future.
“The consultation period is between 7 February and 7 March – we have information available on our website and throughout our Council facilities including libraries, leisure centres and community centres and neighbourhood houses.
“The community consultation sessions will take place in Derrimut, Deer Park, Keilor, Sunshine and St Albans, some sessions are during business hours and some are after hours.
“If people can’t make it to one of the sessions we encourage them to visit our website and submit feedback online.  We have set up a webpage www.brimbank.bic.gov.au/bigideas for people to have their say.
“For people who don’t use computers we have reply paid postcards available at Council centres, please make sure you post or return them by 7 March when the consultation period ends.
“We want to hear from as many of our community members as possible.
“As an extra incentive we are giving away 12 X $50 vouchers to participants – both at the sessions and online.
“Following this consultation period Council will prepare its annual budget for 2017/2018 and four year Council Plan from 2016-2020.
“Once these documents have been reviewed by Council they will go out for a further consultation period before they are formally endorsed,” Cr Hedditch said.
