The coloured lights will change colours at different times of year – to highlight the different seasons, and for special events such as the Sunshine Lantern Festival or Christmas.

The lights have been installed across Hampshire Road, between Devonshire Road and Dickson Street, as well as in nearby McDonald Lane where the lighting also highlights existing mosaic artwork. Additional festoon lighting has been installed above the raised lawn at the Sunshine Bus Interchange.

Mayor of Brimbank Cr John Hedditch said the new lighting created an attractive and vibrant atmosphere for the community to enjoy.

“This new feature lighting creates an enticing and welcoming ambience for local residents as well as visitors to the Sunshine town centre,” Cr Hedditch said.

“Creating a welcoming environment through installations such as this helps promote a space where our community feel safe enjoying the many nearby businesses and restaurants that Sunshine has to offer.

“Council would like to thank local businesses for their patience while the work was completed.”

The works have been completed as part of the implementation of the Hampshire Road Master Plan.
