Residents can register to drop off chemicals on Saturday 18 March from 9am-1pm.
The Detox your Home program, in partnership with Sustainability Victoria, enables the safe disposal of potentially dangerous items like pesticides, detergents and weed killers.
It is important that chemicals should not be put out with the regular rubbish collection where they could explode, ignite, leak or mix with other chemicals.
Chemicals should also not be poured down the drain where they could pollute waterways, harm animals and vegetation, contaminate drinking water supply and make rivers and beaches unsafe for swimming.
To register, please visit sustainability.vic.gov.au/detoxyourhome, choose your preferred time slot and you’ll receive the address to drop off your items on the day.
Registration is required to manage traffic flow and avoid queues on the day, which means everyone can get in and out quickly.
Residents can drop off the following items:

Less toxic items – paint, household batteries, gas bottles, florescent lamps and tubes – can be disposed of at Council’s Resource Recovery Centre at Stadium Drive, Keilor Park.
