Investigators have been told a female in her 20s was home alone at her Eva Street address when she heard someone enter the house about 12.20pm on Monday.
The woman believed it was her friend returning home, but instead found an unknown man in her friend’s bedroom.
The man told the woman to go back to her room and she complied.
The male offender entered the woman’s bedroom a short time later and demanded she faced the wall.
While the victim was looking at the wall, the man rummaged through her purse and bag.
The man left the room, telling the victim not to move as he continued to burgle the house.
The victim eventually turned around when she believed the offender had left the premises and ran to a friend’s house nearby to contact police.
A number of items were stolen during the incident including two mobile phones and a tablet device.
The male is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall with a medium or large build, a tanned complexion, an unshaven beard and short brown hair.
It is believed he was wearing grey shorts and a white/green/yellow checked tee shirt.
