Visit Victoria Appoints New Head Of Major Events

Acting Minister for Tourism and Major Events Philip Dalidakis announced Mr de Bohun would join Visit Victoria as the new General Manager of Major Events.
He will partner with chief executive Peter Bingeman and a team of the best and brightest minds to continue growing Victoria’s world-class calendar.
Mr de Bohun is a proven performer with a record of success. As a respected figure in sporting, corporate and events circles, he is equipped to secure the big blockbusters that create jobs, boost the economy and showcase the best of everything in Victoria.
He remains the A-League’s longest serving and most successful chief. He was a key architect of the successful FFA Cup and the National Youth League competitions.
Mr de Bohun was at the helm as the A-League became a mainstream player in Australian sport.
He served as chief executive of the Leukaemia Foundation, and as a former executive at Cricket Australia is a well-known figure in Australian sport.
The Andrews Labor Government is giving Visit Victoria the resources it needs to keep our state the envy of the nation when it comes to tourism and events. We’ve boosted our war chest for major events by $80 million, and we’ve set up a $20 million Regional Events Fund, too.
It’s all part of a once-in-a-generation shakeup of Victoria’s strategy for tourism and major events. We’ve merged our major events, business events and tourism bodies to form Visit Victoria, our new world-class entity charged with keeping us number one.
Victoria has long been the leader for tourism and events in Australia, but we’ve refreshed our strategy to maintain our edge.
Mr de Bohun will begin his role next month.
