Minister for Racing Martin Pakula today announced almost $32,000 in funding for the Hume Cup Spooktacular, courtesy of the Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program.
The event aims to build stronger relationships with the local community following its other community-focussed events such as the Little Big Day Out, Christmas in July and the Australian Cup Carnival.
The family event will be free of charge and children will receive a complimentary show bag. Children who dress up in their best costumes will also have the chance to take part in the Halloween Fashions on the Field competition.
Other activities will include a Haunted House ride, a FunFlicks cinema zone with bean bags, jumping castles, fairy floss and supervised sporting events.
Various competitions will be held throughout the night for all patrons with prizes including iPads, Xboxes, scooters, mystery bets, a big bucks draw and club merchandise.
The Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association is providing more than $26,000 for the event and Greyhound Racing Victoria will contribute almost $9500.
The greyhound racing industry employs around 3000 Victorians and contributes $315 million annually to the state’s economy.
