Poorly parked in Parkdale

A man has been arrested after crashing an allegedly stolen car in Parkdale last night.

    Emergency services were called to the intersection of Warrigul Road and Como Parade following reports a car had mounted the curb, crashed into a fence and caught fire about 11.40pm.

    Police arrested the driver a short time later after he attempted to flee on foot.

    The driver, a 40-year-old Warragul man, was not injured as a result of the collision.

    He remains in custody and is expected to be charged with:

    • Theft of motor vehicle;

    • Drive while disqualified;

    • Careless driving;

    • Fail to exchange details;

    • Leave scene of an accident;

    • Possess a drug of dependence; and

    • Refuse oral fluid test

    Anyone who witnessed the Red 2007 Holden Calais in the lead up to the collision is urged to contract Crime Stoppers.
