Police seek witnesses to Fitzroy apartment fire

Emergency services were called to the Napier Street after a mattress was set alight on the sixth floor about 4.50am.
Three hundred occupants were evacuated to a relief centre at the Fitzroy Town Hall.
Five people were taken to hospital for treatment of injuries.
Yarra Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire which is believed to have been deliberately lit.
An arson chemist is expected to attend the scene later this morning.
