Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Richmond Richard Wynne today toured the $43 million school – funded by the Andrews Labor Government – which will cater for 650 Year 7-12 students.
The new Richmond High School is located over two sites – an academic precinct on Griffith Street and a sports precinct on Gleadell Street.
The roof of the Griffiths Street campus is now complete. The second campus will open in Term 1, 2019 and will cater for the second cohort of Year 7 students and students moving into Year 8.
The Griffiths Street Campus will have four levels comprising of learning and staff facilities, as well as outdoor spaces for learning, gathering and play.
The Gleadell Street campus includes general purpose teaching spaces, four competition-standard netball courts (one indoor), as well as new showers and toilets, a canteen and administration area.
The Liberal Party shut this school and when they were last in Government ripped billions of dollars out of the education system. They should never be given the chance to do that again.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and education, and has invested more than $3.8 billion to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.
This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
