Minister Keenan said the assistance was being provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
"The Commonwealth and the New South Wales governments are committed to working together to help the Sutherland community recover from the impact of the severe thunderstorms," Mr Keenan said.
"The funds will reimburse Sutherland Shire Council for costs associated with clearing storm debris from essential public assets around Kurnell, such as roads, stormwater drains and footpaths."
Mr Dominello said the NDRRA program gives councils the confidence to proactively step into recovery mode without delay, restoring communities to their pre-disaster state.
"I commended council, emergency services workers and local residents and businesses who helped with the clean-up and recovery," Mr Dominello said.
"Natural disasters are always a challenge for communities to recover from, but with the NDRRA payment, we have made substantial recovery progress."
