Investigators have been told a man was walking east along Main Street when he heard footsteps behind him at about 8pm on 28 December 2016.

As he turned he saw a man standing behind him who demanded money.

The offender then punched the victim in the back of his head, causing him to fall to the ground.

He then continued to assault the victim, striking him in the stomach and rib area, before fleeing empty handed.

The man was last seen jumping fences of yards in Millawa Avenue.

Detectives have released a facial composite image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man, who was carrying a brown satchel type bag at the time of the incident, is perceived to be of Islander appearance with a solid build, about 183cm and short black hair.

He was wearing a red t-shirt, black shorts and black runners.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
