Apprentices To Shine At 2017 Victorian Training Awards

Apprentices, trainees and teachers will take centre stage at this year’s Victorian Training Awards, recognising their importance to our training and TAFE system.

    Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney today officially opened nominations for the awards, which, now in their 63rd year highlight collaboration and innovation in the training system.

    This year’s awards feature 15 categories including six individual categories, three training and four employer categories and an Industry Collaboration Award.

    Winners will receive $5,000 and go on to represent Victoria at the Australian Training Awards in Canberra in November.

    Members of the public will again have a chance to vote via social media in the People’s Choice Award, while the Lynne Kosky Memorial Award will recognise lifetime achievement in VET in Victoria.

    Winners and finalists gain state-wide recognition from the training and TAFE sector, industry experts, peers and the Victorian community, the winners will be announced at the gala awards on Wednesday 11 October.

    With the introduction of Skills First this year, the Andrews Labor Government is making sure every Victorian has access to the training they need to get a job.
