Police initiated a pursuit of a vehicle, with alleged false number plates, about 11.20pm on 6 February.

Shortly after, the offending vehicle collided with another vehicle which was crossing Bell Street from Lahinch Street.

The driver, a 31 year-old Preston man and only occupant of the offending vehicle, is currently under police guard in hospital with minor injuries.

A 41-year-old Reservoir woman, the driver of the vehicle struck, has been taken to hospital with injuries and is in a stable condition.

The female passenger of that vehicle, a 16-year-old Preston girl, was not injured.

Major Collision Investigation Group detectives are investigating the incident with oversight by Professional Standards Command as per standard procedure.
