National Anti-Gangs Squad arrest in WA
- possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply, contrary to Section 6(1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1981.
The Western Australia National Anti-Gangs Squad (WA NAGS), which includes members of the Australian Federal Police and Western Australia Police targets Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs involved in moving illicit drugs into Australia.
Yesterday (25 September 2018), WA NAGS members conducted a roadside traffic stop on a Holden Barina being driven by a 38-year-old man. The man was subsequently arrested and taken to his residence in Hamilton Hill, where a Misuse of Drugs Act search warrant was executed. During the search, police located and seized 900 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine and over $11,000 in cash.

This offence carries a maximum penalty of a $100,000 fine, 25 years’ imprisonment or both.
The man appeared before the Fremantle Magistrates Court this morning, 26 September 2018. He is next due to appear in court on 13 November 2018.
AFP Detective Superintendent Peter Bodel, National Anti-Gangs Squad said the AFP is committed to disrupting organised crime at all levels.
“We know Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs are organised crime, and they are involved in the distribution and supply of drugs to fund their various criminal activities, with no regard for the devastating effects illicit drugs have on the Australian community,” Det. Supt Bodel said.
“The AFP will continue to work with its law-enforcement partners to disrupt and dismantle the criminal activities of Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.”
WA Police Detective Superintendent Kim Massam from the Serious & Organised Crime Division said that partnerships with other law enforcement agencies were vital in the fight to rid Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs from the community of Western Australia.
“This is another example of tremendous Police work between our agencies in our ongoing commitment to keeping our community safe from the activities of organised criminals”.
