Minister for Local Government Natalie Hutchins today announced funding for a group of councils to trial a system that will help council’s choose greener suppliers.
Melbourne City Council received $32,500 to work with Moreland, Port Phillip, and Yarra City Councils to trial a Dutch developed product, C0² Performance Ladder, for use in local government across Victoria.
The group will assess whether the tool, which ranks council suppliers based on their C0² emissions, will help councils reduce their carbon footprint.
The grant is one of five projects funded by the Victorian Government’s third round of Collaborative Council – Sustainability Fund Partnerships program, with another two rounds of grants still open for applications.
The program provides grants of up to $75,000 for councils to work together to develop sustainable projects and initiatives across council boundaries.
