Brimbank Mayor Cr John Hedditch said the annual hard waste collection aims at offering the community a convenient way to get rid of unwanted hard waste without having to make a trip to the tip or having to hire a skip bin.

“The annual collection costs more than $1.3 million to carry out the service across Brimbank.

“Hard waste will be collected from different residential areas of Brimbank on different weeks throughout the collection period.

“Residents will receive a brochure in their letterboxes approximately two weeks before the collection in their area, advising them of their specific collection week and providing details about the service.

“The material for collection must be on the nature strip by 6am on the Monday of the collection week and mustn’t be put out any earlier than the weekend before the scheduled collection.

“Please keep the streets as tidy as possible while the hard rubbish collection is underway and consider safety and that of your neighbours as you go about this activity,” Cr Hedditch said.

The annual service allows households to place up to three cubic metres (approximately one small trailer load) of hard waste on nature strips for collection.

If material is placed out late, residents will need to make their own arrangements for disposal, as Council will not return to collect late piles of rubbish.

In addition to the annual hard waste collection, residents can take advantage of an additional user pays Hard Waste Collection service, available from WM Waste Management (Council’s current contractor) for a fee.

User pays collections can be booked at any time of the year directly through WM Waste Management Services on 9721 1915.

Payment for this service is made directly to WM Waste Management.
