Brimbank Mayor Cr John Hedditch said that anyone parking at the Brimbank Multi-deck Car Park from 6 November will definitely get more bang for their buck.

“The free parking time limit has been increased to the first three hours, up from the previous two hour limit.

“Three to five hours parking will now cost $2, while parking all day (five hours and more) will cost $4. These changes come into effect from 1 November 2017.

“The extension of free parking for the first three hours is in line with the free parking available at the nearby Sunshine Leisure Centre car park.

“From the start, the purpose of the multi-deck car park was to offer a viable, practical and reasonably priced parking option in the busy Sunshine Town Centre.

“Council has adjusted the parking time limits now to make sure the new car park is well utilised.

“The change was made in response to feedback from Sunshine Leisure Centre users who wanted the nearby multi-deck car park to offer similar free parking hours as the nearby centre so that it was convenient for them to use,” Cr Hedditch said.

The Brimbank Multi-Deck Car Park parking time limits were adjusted following a review of the operation, and some more improvements will also be investigated.

Entry and exit to the Brimbank Multi-deck Car Park is from George Street, off Devonshire Road. However Council plans to undertake detailed investigations to determine whether a right turn lane could be provided into George Street from the eastern approach of Devonshire Road.

The car park uses a fully ‘cashless’ payment system that requires all payments to be made by debit card/credit card (paywave). Access is via a boom gate and the use of ‘pay wave’ or ‘pay pass’ through a debit or credit card. Users must swipe their debit or credit card on entry and on exit with payment automatically deducted from the account. If the stay is less than three hours, no payment will be charged.

The public parking is located on the lower four floors of the multi-deck car park, from ground floor to level 4.

Prior to the change on 6 November 2017, the parking limits  included free parking for the first two hours, $2 for 2 to 4 hours parking, and $4 for $4+ hours parking.

Located between George and Dawson streets, Sunshine, the multi-deck car park has been operational since 21 September 2016, and offers 250+ public spaces. It’s open between 5.30am to 10pm, seven days a week.
