Daniel’s Donuts Gives Young Jobseekers Some Sweet Relief

Minister for Industry and Employment Ben Carroll today visited Daniel’s Donuts to meet two young women who’ve secured jobs as sales assistants thanks to Jobs Victoria and partner organisation The Bridge.
20-year-old Kahlia Teteo from Tonga and 19-year-old Alisha Neemia from Samoa both faced barriers to finding a job. Now they’re working at a local icon serving a variety of sweet treats.
Since October 2016, The Bridge has helped around 50 long-term unemployed Victorians into sustainable jobs.
Thanks to Jobs Victoria funding – The Bridge will place a total of 130 jobseekers into work across Melbourne’s eastern, south-eastern and southern metropolitan regions.
The Labor Government’s $68 million Jobs Victoria program is changing lives and breaking down barriers to employment.
It has already helped place more than 2,400 long-term jobseekers into work – around 40 jobs a week – since the program began a year ago.
Jobs Victoria has a goal of placing more than 5,000 long-term jobseekers into meaningful work.
