Carjacking in Brighton East

A local woman was parked on Mavis Avenue, beside Landcox Park, about 1.35pm when she noticed a man walk towards and in front of her car from the park.
The man has walked past her car then doubled back and approached the driver’s side door.
He then opened the door and demanded the 49-year-old woman get out of the car, threatening her with a pair of scissors.
The victim grabbed a hold of the scissors and the offender grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the vehicle.
The man then drove off in her vehicle, a silver 2007 Toyota Camry sedan, towards Milroy Street and Nepean Highway.
Her phone and a tablet were also in the car at the time.
The victim then attended a nearby café and patrons assisted her by calling police.
She was not physically injured during the incident.
Detectives from Glen Eira Bayside Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack or has information about the car or offender.
The man involved is described as being perceived to be African in appearance, about 185cm tall and spoke English well.
At the time he was wearing tracksuit pants, a blue top with black print, light coloured runners and a cap.
The registration of the stolen vehicle is UYZ 360.
