The second incident took place at a bottle shop on Hume Drive in Sydenham about 10pm.

Three males with bandanas covering their faces entered the store, allegedly armed with a meat cleaver.

A staff member picked up a baseball bat and the offenders fled empty-handed in a vehicle. No one was physically injured during the incidents.

A 16-year-old Sydenham boy and an 18-year-old Melton South man were arrested at a Taylors Hill address this morning.

Both are currently in custody, assisting police with their enquiries.

Police have also recovered a vehicle, a Honda sedan, believed to be used during the two incidents.

The investigation remains ongoing and police are still searching for the remaining offenders.
