Police operation in Brimbank - Operation Artsop

Police involved in the operation have been targeting high volume crime areas, within the Brimbank police service area, focusing on car thefts, robberies, burglaries and thefts from cars.
High visibility and covert patrols have been conducted, as part of the operation, to reduce crime and deter offenders.
Results of Operation Artsop:
• People charged -57
• Search Warrants – 5
• People checked - 518
• Vehicles Checked - 2097
• Traffic Infringement Notices Issued - 106
• Crime Infringement Notices Issued - 4
• Defect Notices Issued - 6
• Vehicles Impounded - 6
• Persons arrested on warrants - 15
• Type of property recovered – 1 stolen motorcycle, credit cards, other personal property, keys, 4 stolen number plates, large amount of jewellery, electronic goods
• Type of weapons seized – 1 firearm, 1 imitation firearm, 2 x Samurai swords, baseball bat, axe, double sword, martial arts weapons, laser pointer, fireworks and drug test kit
Senior Detective Anna Kirishian said that the operation was a success as the results have shown.
“As a result of Artsop police recovered stolen property which included a Honda motorbike, jewellery, stolen credit cards and computer equipment. Also two firearms, a number of weapons and a quantity of drugs have been taken off our streets,” she said.
“We will continue to conduct these operations in an effort to reduce crime and to ensure that members of our community feel safe to live their lives without becoming a victim of crime.”
