Man charged following Sunshine North fatal collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a collision in Sunshine North yesterday evening that claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman.

It’s understood the Sunshine West woman was crossing McIntyre Road with another woman; aged 74 from Sunshine North about 7.10pm when they were struck by a north bound Ford Ute.
Police and other emergency services attended the collision site and a crime scene was established.
The driver of the ute, a 40-year-old man was arrested and later charged with dangerous driving causing death.
The Truganina man will remain in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today for a filing hearing.
The 74-year-old Sunshine North woman remains in hospital with serious injuries.
