Minister for Health Jill Hennessy today announced $9.8 million to redevelop, refurbish or upgrade infrastructure at 23 community health services.

More than half the funding – $5.88 million – will go towards five community health facilities in rural and regional Victoria, including:

•     a major redevelopment to the Wendouree site of Ballarat Community Health
•     the relocation of Grampians Community Health in Horsham
•     the refurbishment of the Gippsland Lakes Community Health site in McCulloch Street

In Melbourne, six centres will share in $2.92 million for major projects and a further 12 will each receive about $90,000 for minor capital works.

These projects include:

•     replacing the roof at IPC Health in St Albans
•     refurbishing a Star Health facility in South Melbourne
•     building a new meeting space at the Knox site of EACH

Community health services play an important role in the Victorian health system, providing integrated health and social services for vulnerable Victorians.

These upgrades will give community health services the room, facilities and technology they need grow and deliver more services to meet demand.

It will give people better access to the safe and high quality care they need, right on their doorstep.

The Victorian Budget 2017/18 delivered $1.67 billion to support hospitals meet demand and provide the high quality care Victorian patients deserve.
