The Dandenong Eyewatch page is the 24th page to be launched and police are encouraging the community to get involved and “like” the page.

Eyewatch is a platform that allows police to share updates about crime and other community safety initiatives via Facebook.

It allows local communities to connect with local police and share crime and safety information.

Currently there are about 200,000 followers across 23 Eyewatch pages.

Inspector Mark Langhorn said the new Eyewatch page would give police a new way to engage with the community of Dandenong.

“The Eyewatch pages are a great platform for communication between the local community and the police,” Insp Langhorn said.

“We want to give the people of Dandenong an opportunity to contribute to the safety of their community and stay up-to-date with the activity of their local police.

“The Eyewatch pages have proven to be a successful tool in identifying offenders, solving crimes and finding missing people.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing this online community grow.”

There are plans for further Eyewatch pages to be rolled out in 2017.

Eyewatch is not a platform for reporting crime and is not a replacement for calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
