Ms Kruk has held senior leadership positions at inter-jurisdictional levels across health, environmental areas, health care consumer issues and advising on future regulatory frameworks.
Ms Kruk replaces outgoing Chair, Ms Philippa Smith, who has completed her second term in the role. Assistant Minister for Rural Health, Dr David Gillespie thanks Ms Smith for her guidance, leadership and work on food standards, safety and labelling throughout this time. Dr Gillespie would also like to thank Professor Lynne Daniels for acting in this role.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand is a trans-Tasman agency that develops Australia and New Zealand food standards and is governed by a Board of 12 members.
The Food Standards Code regulates the use of ingredients, processing aids, colourings, additives and vitamins and minerals and covers the composition of some foods, such as dairy, meat and beverages.
The Food Standards Code is also responsible for some labelling requirements for packaged and unpackaged food, such as specific mandatory warnings or advisory labels.
Dr Gillespie is looking forward to continue working with the FSANZ Board so that consumers can continue to have confidence in the safety of the food sold in our respective nations.
Ms Kruk’s first term as Chair of the Board of FSANZ will end on 30 September 2020.
