Victorian man faces charges of transmitting child exploitation material

A 21-year-old Pakenham, VIC, man has been arrested for allegedly transmitting child exploitation material online.

Investigations led members of the Victorian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team, comprised of the Australian Federal Police and Victoria Police, to execute a search warrant at a Pakenham residence yesterday, Thursday 2 August 2018. During the warrant, police seized two digital devices containing child exploitation material along with a number of prohibited weapons.
A 21-year-old man, who resided at the location, was arrested and taken to Pakenham Police Station. He was charged with:
- Use carriage service to cause child pornography material to be transmitted, contrary to section 474.19 (1)(a)(ii) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth)
- Possession of child abuse material contrary to s51G(1) Crimes Act (Vic).
He will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
