Police investigate West Footscray fire

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire in West Footscray this morning.

Emergency services were contacted by a neighbour who became aware of the fire in the Broad Street flat at 5.30am.
A man in his 50s was pulled from the flat and conveyed to hospital with burn injuries.
The flat was extensively damaged in the fire which is being treated as suspicious.
An arson chemist is expected to examine the site later this morning to determine the exact cause of the fire.
