Police investigate sexual assault in Carrum Downs

Investigators have been told a 16-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop on Frankston-Dandenong Road just before 3pm when she was approached by an unknown man.

The man struck up a conversation with her before sexually assaulting her while she sat at the bus stop.

He became verbally aggressive towards the victim before getting in his vehicle and driving away.

He is described as being aged in his late-20s to early-40s, about 170cm tall, with short, straight black hair, a thin build and wearing a Hawaiian tropical style short sleeve shirt.

Police have released an image of a vehicle that they believe the owner may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The vehicle is a small red three door hatch has distinct spoke rims.
