The collision occurred on Mt Dandenong Road near Donald Street at 9.45pm on Monday 2 July.

Police have been told a Toyota Yaris was travelling west on Mt Dandenong Road when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to skid across the road, over the centre median strip before colliding with an east-bound vehicle.

Following the collision the driver of the Yaris climbed out of his overturned vehicle and ran from the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 64-year-old Croydon Hills woman, was conveyed to hospital with serious injuries.

Police are investigating if speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the driver is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
