Police investigate Ascot Vale fire

Neighbours rang Triple Zero (000) after hearing an explosion at the house on The Parade just before 3.30am.

The fire, which is being treated as suspicious, caused extensive damage to the building.

An arson chemist will attend the scene later this morning to determine the cause of the fire.
