The declaration means that Australian residents harmed as a direct result of this terrorist attack may seek a one-off payment of up to $75,000 in financial assistance.

On the morning of 15 September 2017, an improvised explosive device placed on a train at Parsons Green Station in London exploded, resulting in injuries to 30 people, including one Australian.

The Australian Government condemns the attack and extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those injured, to the UK Government and people of London.

The declaration brings the total number of overseas terrorist acts declared by the Australian Government to 41.

The Australian Government's AVTOP scheme ensures Australian victims of terrorist acts overseas have access to financial support. It is an important acknowledgement of their pain and suffering.

Information on applying for financial assistance through the AVTOP scheme is available at the Department of Human Services website, or by calling 1800 040 226.
