New Upgrades For Historic School In Port Melbourne

Acting Premier James Merlino and Member for Albert Park Martin Foley today visited the school and turned the first sod of the upgrade, which includes facilities that will be shared with the local community.
The upgrade includes a new multi-purpose gymnasium, with indoor basketball and netball courts, change rooms, toilets and canteen and an arts and music building offering a diverse range of arts and inclusive programs at the school.
Architect Williams Boag and builders SJ Higgins Pty Ltd will incorporate state-of-the-art facilities including acoustic wall lining and double-glazing of the event and performance spaces.
Port Melbourne Primary School is part of a $2.5 billion investment by the Labor Government to improve classrooms, upgrade facilities and build new schools across the state.
This school building boom has delivered more than 1,200 school upgrades and 56 new school projects across the state, supporting almost 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every Victorian student gets the opportunity for a great education and every community has access to a great school.
