Man charged after drugs located during Hamilton intercept

Two constables were patrolling an area following recent reports of suspected drug activity when they pulled over a vehicle with it’s high beam lights on travelling south on Bree Road just after 1.30am on 8 October.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and the constables located a quantity of cannabis.

The driver, a 33-year-old Branxholme man, was subsequently arrested and taken back to Hamilton police station.

He was then searched and police located a commercial quantity of methamphetamine on him.

He was charged with traffick methamphetamine, traffick cannabis, possess methamphetamine and possess cannabis.

The value of the drugs seized is believed to be in excess of $50,000.

The man faced an out of sessions court hearing and was remanded in custody to appear at Warrnambool Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
