Man arrested in Melbourne counter terrorism operation charged

A Werribee man arrested as part of an operation by the Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team has been charged and remanded in custody, after appearing before court this afternoon.

Operation San Jose resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old Werribee man by members of the Victoria Police Special Operations Group just before 3pm on 27 November.
The man was charged this afternoon with the following offences:
- Other acts done in preparation for or planning a terrorist act, contrary to section 101.6 of the Criminal Code Act 1995; and
- Collecting or making documents likely to facilitate terrorist acts, contrary to Section 101.5(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995.
He appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
