After arriving on a flight from Dusseldorf, Germany - via Abu Dhabi - yesterday (15 April), a 37-year-old German man and a 49-year-old German woman were selected for a baggage examination by Australian Border Force (ABF) officers.

During the examination the officers identified anomalies within the lining of the suitcases, and further examination revealed a white powder which returned a positive result for cocaine.

Each suitcase contained approximately two kilograms of the substance.  Further testing will be conducted to determine the exact weight, purity and value of the cocaine seized.

The couple were referred to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) who arrested and charged with importing a commercial quantity of border controlled drugs, contrary to section 307.1 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth.).

They are due to appear in Parramatta Local Court via video link today.
