Firey motorist takes aim at traffic camera

It is believed an unknown offender, who was wearing a helmet, has tampered with a red light camera located on the corner of Punt Road, north of High Street, about 6am.

The hard-headed individual was seemingly unsuccessful, so they decided to set it alight.

The fire caused significant damage to the camera.

However, unfortunately for the offender, any images captured are automatically uploaded to the Department of Justice.

Police are hoping someone may have information relating to the identity of this bright spark.

Investigators have released vision of a person who may be able to assist with their enquiries and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time to come forward.
