The victim, a 51-year-old Chinese tourist, was visiting Lake Bunga Beach with relatives on Friday 7 December.

The man left his possessions, including his wallet, on a park bench situated near the entrance to the beach just after 3pm.

When the man realised that his wallet had been left with his clothes he returned to the bench but his wallet had been stolen.

His wallet contained a large amount of cash, his Chinese driver’s licence and his passport.

Investigators believe that the theft occurred between 3 – 6pm and are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious or has information about the theft to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report at www.crimestoppersviccom.au.
