Bridging The Gap To Put More Victorians Into A Job

Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan joined Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny and Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke today to announce more than $843,000 for The Bridge.

The Bridge helps disengaged young people, culturally-diverse communities and people who’ve had contact with the justice system find meaningful jobs.

The organisation will use the grant to place a further 90 people into employment.

The Bridge received more than $476,000 through the first round of Jobs Victoria funding, placing nearly 40 people into work.

One of these people was 20-year-old Nor Atikah Binti Ramli, who came to Melbourne as an asylum seeker from Malaysia and has recently struggled to find work because of cultural barriers.

The Bridge has helped her secure a job at Quest Apartment in Cheltenham.

Around 13 employment service providers are sharing in $11.6 million as part of stage two of Jobs Victoria, to place 1,200 people into work.

More than 1,600 disadvantaged Victorians have already found work through Jobs Victoria.
