Investigators have been told a woman in her 30s was walking across Kingsway Reserve on Jan 29, which is near Queens Road, when she was approached by a man about 4.50pm.

The man, believed to be in his early 20s, made demands for the woman’s handbag, but she was not carrying one.

He then struck the victim in the face before fleeing the scene on foot on Kingsway towards Albert Road.

The man is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance and about 188cm tall with a skinny build and brown hair.

He was wearing a white cap and red top.

Police have released a facial composite image of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who recognises the man or has any information regarding the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
